Day 168 – Easy

Hours of Daylight – 12:29

I don’t think i can accurately describe how easy it is to live here. I’m not sure why i’m even thinking this right now, other than because it has been yet another in a series of easy days.

No traffic to speak of. The weather is magnificent. The cost of goods remains comparable to the rest of the country. Distances one must drive to purchase material goods are small.

Then there’s the household factor. Annette and i have never owned a house before. We’ve never had a garage. We’ve never had a washing machine and dryer in the house (let alone on the upper floor where all the dirty clothes are). As i’ve mentioned before we’ve never had a kitchen were we could both be at the same time with 12 places to plug in helpful devices.

Days like this New Orleans seems a world away. Iraq might as well be on another planet.

Is this what it means to be an American?
