Day 639 – Post Trip, Post Game

Hours of Daylight – Few

So we survived our road trip to all three national parks. That’s right, Death Valley, Zion, and Bryce were visited.

Not to gloss over the hilites of the trip i nonetheless won’t go into the details of the trip at the moment, but suffice to say it was great to be on the road in the Vanagon. One word of caution: the rim of Bryce Canyon sits at over 8,300 feet. Remember we lose anywhere from 3-10 degrees per thousand feet. Yeah, so that means in December Bryce is DAMN COLD.

In other news the Boise State Broncos won the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in (even for a total non-sports-fan such as myself) what was a nail-biter of a game. This was the very first football game i’ve ever watched from start to finish. Why do i care? Well, it means Boise State Atheletics will be firehosed with money. This unplanned infusion of millions might allow the university to rebudget a bit and step up to fund my wife’s research center and thus keep her employed. After all the tag line of this place remains “a metropolitan research institution of distinction” so it might be nice if they put some of their own money (as opposed to the Fed’s money) behind that sentiment. Doubtful, but stay tuned.
