Day 1263 – Everything I’ve Learned…

…I’ve pretty much learned from my cat(s).

Again, that’s hyperbole, but you get my drift. I love all animals and i harbor a particular affinity towards goats. They seem to like me, too. I’ve never owned a dog, but i get on swimmingly with nearly all dogs i’ve ever come in contact with. However i prefer cats as pets. I don’t hunt, i don’t care to show and, at least for now, i don’t live in a place where having a sled dog team makes sense. Therefore having cats just makes more sense.

The two Annette and i have now, Mora and Isa, are twin sisters from a litter of five. We did nothing unusual while they were kittens, in fact they spent much of their formative months in a very small apartment. Perhaps due to the size of the place, they never had a great deal of cat-aloof-time. They might have become ultra socialized simply by nearly uninterrupted contact to humans.

However it happened these girls are the most social, people-oriented cats i’ve ever known. They do their own thing, but they are always curious about what those big bipedal creatures are up to. And it’s not all about food. They are largely uninterested in food and eat only the same dry cat food day after day. They frequently verify that their food dish is where it should be, and that it contains at least some crumbs, but beyond that they show little interest in eating. So little interest that Mora weighs less than 7 pounds… the better to leap to high spots.
