Day 1506 – Local Sights

Idaho City is just a short ride up rt. 21. It’s an odd assemblage of buildings and people that simply refuses to fade away.

On one level it is a bona fide historically significant town that at one time produced prodigious amounts of gold. On another level it’s a tired roadside attraction whose fortunes ebb and flow with the whims of the larger economy just a short ride down rt. 21.

I’ve not spent much time up at IDC as the locals call it. Much of the time Annette and i are just passing through on our way to Edna Creek campground, or maybe the Gold Fork parking lot to stage our climb up to one of the Idaho City area yurts. I’ve stopped at Trudy’s Kitchen several times but i have to admit i’ve not contributed vast sums to the IDC economy.

But at least i can show some photographs that may not show the faces of the individuals, but offer clues to their existence and how they choose to live their lives.
