Day 1520 – Newlyweds

I don’t support breeding, but i do support marriage; now more than ever. Having my wife back w/o a return-to-new york-ticket is affecting me in ways i’d not expected. The past week has felt far more similar to the week after we got married (ten years back) than i ever would have predicted. It’s nice to keep being surprised in this way. I recommend it.

We’d been together for about 14 years before we got married. We’d always planned on getting married at some point, but we never seemed to commit the time (let alone the money) to planning some kind of “traditional” wedding. Neither of us have family we cared to invite, so why blow the money? We couldn’t get married at the municipal building in Manhattan because that’s where my parents had been married… and they did not set an example we cared to follow. Plus my mother had asked requested we not get married while she was still alive. She felt that strongly against traditional marriage.

But more on all that later. Right now it’s about being newlyweds again and enjoying our furry children. This time it’s Isa who found the special hiding spot. Mora still has the rain gutter above the front door, but now Isa has the fence roll amidst the pile of gardening detritus. Wife back in the house, cat curled up in the fence roll. Today life is good.
