Day 1791 – The Lasts

This is the time that’s most emotionally wrenching for me. Annette and i have entered into the zone of “the lasts.” This weekend we drove up to Gold Fork hot springs and soaked for probably the last time. We stayed at the Long Valley Motel for the last time. We ate at the McCall brewery for the last time. Ok, that’s not all that bad. We woke up in the goofy “polynesian” room (#4 if you’re curious) at the Long Valley Motel for the last time, etc., etc.

I think this is one of the most important aspects to moving on to a new place; saying goodbye to the old place. It’s good to practice departures since eventually, in a somewhat more final fashion, we’ll all depart. These “mini-departures” help to highlight the important aspects to a given time and place. What remains in one’s mind, what we think about daily, after leaving a place is the demi-glace of our experiences. And like the best demi-glace is makes future meals taste better, eh?
