Day 1920/116 – Triage

I’ve been lugging my father’s print archives around since he died and yesterday i began the onerous process of triaging hundreds of prints. His negatives are much easier to haul and they remain more or less safe, so i’ve been a bit rough with the prints. The process reminds me that what the world needs most right now is a really good editor. It also reminds me of when i was 5 or 6, standing in the safelight of his darkroom, watching him do oddly-smelling magic with liquids, paper, and light.

Oh, and i’m also triaging this blog: Boise Days stops being counted as of today. The Bethel house is rented, the tenants are in. From now on, with the exception of a few individuals, my connection to Boise is almost entirely a business deal that will eventually end. I can only hope in one year’s time, when the tenant’s lease is up, with any luck we’ll be finally able to sell the house and close a mixed period in our lives.
