Day 548 – Wet (revisited)

It has been a record-breaking wet spring. I wrote this all up yesterday, but i’ve come to discover i had my blog’s wires crossed. So… i’m trying again, but only just.

Let’s see… what did i write for the original post… wet spring, lots of snow, Big Elk Rd is still only one lane in spots due to snow piled on either side of the road.

Oh, it was cold yesterday, when i wrote the original post. We had a fire burning most of the day and my only fear was that the cat would fall asleep too close to the fire and start smoldering.

Oh, yeah, and irises. They’re everywhere. Last year they barely bloomed, this year they’re unstoppable. The deer don’t eat them, so they do well here.

And, i also drew a comparison between an experience i had at Coeur D’alene lake involving dozens of bald eagles and rainbows here in Ashland. In the mid winter up at Coeur D’alene Lake dozens and dozens of bald eagles dive bomb for fish. The place is rotten with them. After the initial “holy cow, look at that!” the experience becomes like watching pigeons feeding in Central Park. A couple walking a dog told me “the damn birds miss about 50% of the time which means there are hundreds of dead fish stinking up the place.” I learned bald eagles won’t take a dead fish.

Here it’s rainbows. We’ve had a dazzling rainbow every day for a month. Locals claim to not even see then anymore. At least dead rainbows don’t smell.
