Day 403

Hours of daylight – 10:17
Weather: Damn cold, clear overnight leading to clouds by mid-afternoon

I totally missed reporting a rather major event: several weeks ago Annette and I went out with a group of my co-workers to a warehouse-district clubbish place called “The Lounge.”

The experience was laced with New York elements, but overall was sufficiently infused with Minnesota events so I could never pretend to be anywhere other than were I was.

The Lounge is located in what I refer to as the Dead Zone of the Warehouse District. For those not hip to the Warehouse District it is a downtown zone of large old buildings that have been refurbed into trendy offices and over priced restaurants. Call it Little SoHo West. It occupies a relatively small area of gridded streets, but somehow I manage to get lost there every time.

Part of the problem is Minneapolis is laid out on intersecting grids that use compass point nomenclature from a way bygone era. The STREETS run (sort of) East and West, but are named North & South. The AVENUES run (kind of) North and South, but they too are named North & South. So, yes, there is a corner where 1st Ave. North and 1st Street North meet. The whole place is offset about 45
