Day 1735 – Snow Drought

Hours of Daylight – 8:53

December 8th and we’ve only had a dusting of snow. Temps have all been well above normal, too. I put my motorcycle into storage three weeks ago when we had our first few days of light snow and ice, but the weather is mocking my decision to store the bike.

The pictures were taken with my cell phone, so no comments on quality.

Gs_by_riverThe BMW R1200 GS is simply a singular joy. I rode over 600 miles the first weekend. I rode in traffic, on the interstate, on back roads. I even thrashed around in a gravel pit for a little while. I took it back to the dealer for the first service ($$$$), and now it is wintering at a local high-end motorcycle dealer. The license plate showed about a week ago and i drove to the dealer to put it on. I walked into the shop saying i had a bike in storage and was there to put the plate on.

I turned around from the service desk and there she was… just sitting there on the sidestand. Hmmm, the terms of the deal are they take the battery out, put stabilizer in the fuel, and, one would think, put the bike on the center stand. I said to the service guy, “hey, there’s my bike… right there.”

“Oh, that’s yours! Yeah, we’ve kept it out front here…. gets lots of comments.”

I didn’t bother asking about why the battery was still in the bike, or if Sta-bil had been put in the fuel. Fortunately i wrote down the milage when i dropped the bike off, if it reads one mile over that number when i pick it up i’m going throw quite the fit.
