Day 869 “The Meat, and all it wants.”

Freakin’ awesome… that’s how i describe today’s weather. It started all cloudy. That’s right i said cloudy! Honestly after three months of nearly uninterrupted cloudless blue sky the presence of an overcast sky and, later, water falling from that sky, hits with the impact of the last part of the first Dune book where it rains on Arrakis.

But the title of this post is not from Dune, it’s from Neuromancer. But this post is now a day late, so i’m going to hit “publish” and start over again. I had a plan when i began this… really.

**********

Now i remember! I wrote the intro on Sunday when we had actual rain. A few drops. The reason i was thinking about Neuromancer was that i spent most of Sunday sitting at my computer hacking up a few web pages, a few graphics, a few bits of PHP, a couple of WordPress plug-ins and reading lots of opinion regarding the current state of our world. In short my life was entirely taking place via my computer, my monitor, and the internet.

Suddenly email came in… i guy i know was also at work, pounding on a keyboard. I read his message, dashed off a reply. His reply pointed me to a website and some photos. I dashed off a message to a some friends and forwarded the URL to the photo.

After several hours of this i realized i had to pee. It took actual time for me to discern what the sensation was and how to address it. It was the meat; it had needs to be tended to. For several seconds i was profoundly annoyed by this sudden return to “normal” reality.

Oh, and in case anybody cares, today’s weather was also freakin’ awesome. It started like a day on the coast – low foggy clouds thick enough to completely obscure the sun at points. The morning ride in felt freezing cold compared to the endless parade of hot dry mornings. It was great.
